The Learning Tower: Making a Family

from | July 22, 2009

So I decided to order Annabelle (and one day, Addison) the Learning Tower. It is a fancy step stool really but one that is really sturdy and can be climbed on and all over without worry of it tipping over. Is is designed to get the little ones up at counter level to be apart of the fun of cooking, washing dishes and the likes ...fun to us, no… but a two year old find this fascinating! So it came today and I have put it together.. Annabelle was cheering as I screwed in the parts and was so excited to play on her “Castle”. read more

Chive Talkin

from | May 6, 2009

Well, if you are a reader, you know by now our family loves food.  We love cooking together, too.  I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and my children are usually right beside me.  Sometimes, they can be literally underfoot.  Which is not a good thing, it can be downright dangerous.  Since, I think children learn best by playing and doing, it only makes sense I want them with me; experiencing life, helping me cook, learning to clean up after themselves, etc.

I am blessed with a two year old little boy, well, big boy now, who loves to watch and help out in the kitchen.  Whether we are making something yummy to eat or science experiments for homeschool, he likes to be right in the thick of things.  Safety is a huge issue for me and every other parent on the planet for that matter.  Chairs are tippy and so are little ones sometimes.  More than once, I have caught him in mid air before he has hit the floor.  Thankfully.  And then there’s me, trying to hold him on one hip while cooking – that doesn’t cut it either.  It is so hard when he looks at me with those big blue eyes of his and says, “Up, up!” I want to allow him to see what we are doing and at times do what we are doing.  So, was I ever thrilled when our Learning Tower arrived?  Now, he is off the chair and onto learning and doing right where he should be - safely! read more

Home Interior Design Themes

I remember as a child being kept out of the kitchen at all times. A small metal railing was placed in the doorway where I would sit on the hallway side peering in at my parents doing strange things with pots, pans and rolling pins. Naturally my parents wanted to keep me safe and away from any dangers without having to carry me everywhere but it was a lonely experience and a frustrating one.

This is why this Kid’s Learning Tower step stool is an ideal solution if you want to involve your toddlers more in the kitchen goings-on. The safety and security the tower provides allows their independent and inquisitive natures to flourish without the concerns of the usual kitchen hazards. By raising children to counter top height, it allows children to become helping participants alongside parents and siblings.

It can also be used anywhere in the home and adjusted to provide various alternative roles including a play fort, a puppet show box, a secret den and even a desk.

And Other Times Not So Much

from | February 25, 2009

About two weeks ago, Jude’s recently-purchased Learning Tower arrived via UPS delivery. It stayed in the entrance to our apartment for a few days until I was able to find the time to attempt assembly on my own.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Learning Tower, allow me to take a brief moment to describe the apparatus. The Learning Tower, at it’s root, is a glorified step stool for toddlers and young children. Please don’t let that kind of harsh description soil your opinion of it: it’s an awesome piece of furniture! It has an adjustable platform for the kids to stand on, a wide base to prevent tipping, and is semi-enclosed on all four sides so that little ones have less of a chance of falling off/out. Plus (plus!) it can support up to 500 pounds, so it doubles as a safe step stool for mom and/or dad!

So, what good is a Learning Tower? Well, let me tell you–it allows children to (safely!) be at counter height in the kitchen, which in turn affords them the opportunity to watch or engage in what mom or dad are doing. For me, this was the number one reason for purchasing. Most kids, and Jude is certainly no exception, love to take part in the world around them. It’s how they learn. Since acquiring our Learning Tower, Jude has ‘helped’ me make dough for bread, chop veggies for meal time, assemble sandwiches for lunch, and wash dishes! He has learned (or is on his way to learning) that half of one cup is 1/2 cup, that there are three teaspoons in a tablespoon, and that mama curses when she forgets to mix cold water with the hot water while washing dishes. Hooray for learning! read more

The Learning Tower: Mommy Mandy

from Mommy Mandy | October 8, 2008

I am very excited to share with you this wonderful product that helps little kids learn to do things for themselves.

The Learning Tower has been one very useful item for my girls. For a child, the world around them is a magical and curious place. They learn by mirroring Mommy and Daddy with the ultimate goal being “to do it myself” and feel like an active member of the family. That’s why Little Partners has created the Learning Tower: a sturdy, non-tip structure that welcomes the child to safely participate with parents, caregivers, and siblings by raising them to counter top height. read more

from Parents with Style | August 19, 2008

Are you looking for a gift that will keep on giving? Well, over the next year I am going to share with you all the different ways to use THE LEARNING TOWER! What a great gift idea that will do more than just one thing. If you buy the additional playhouse kit you will turn your tower into a versatile playhouse. Not to mention it is the perfect partner for your child in the kitchen. This does everything. So check out my peanut using this as a puppet theatre...now the picture doesn’t include the cool Puppet show sign..but you get the picture. Nevaeh loves her LEARNING TOWER! When ours came in the mail I was at my day job and Russell my hubby had it all put together when I got home. He said it was really easy to put together and my kids just love it. So stay tuned for my next post coming in a few weeks about THE LEARNING TOWER!

A little help here?

A little help here?

from Mama Speaks | October 4, 2007

Remember that old adage that a womans place is in the kitchen? Yeah, um, no. Makes you grit your teeth right? Thankfully times have changed, but nevertheless us Mama’s still find ourselves in the kitchen, a lot- breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and “oh, you need cupcakes for tomorrow sweetie? And the store is closed?” So we cook. Some of us love it. Others do it for no other reason than the fact that well, we must eat to live.

Making Batter-Licking A Bit More Accessible

Making Batter-Licking A Bit More Accessible

from Cool Mom Picks | August 28, 2007

I am definitely no domestic goddess, so when I’m in the kitchen, I need both eyes on what I’m doing. Now stick my daughter in there with me, standing precariously on a kitchen chair so she can “help” and neither she nor my lasagna are entirely safe.
That’s why I’m coveting the Learning Tower from Little Partners. It’s a fantastic wooden contraption designed to allow your kiddos (18 months+) to participate in the kitchen activities.

Eco Child’s Play

from | April 15, 2007

One of the best big purchases for our toddler daughter has been her Learning Tower. She has used it virtually every day, two or three times a day, since she was about 14 months old. Since she will probably use her Learning Tower on a daily basis until she is four or even five years old. We enjoy cooking, so much of our shared family life centers on our kitchen; thanks to the Learning Tower, our daughter is already learning those same priorities.

The Learning Tower is a sturdy wooden platform your toddler can use to interact with adults at their level, primarily in the kitchen, where most of the “action” is happening on 32-to-36” countertops. Unlike a chair or stool, the Learning Tower features a large platform for standing on (approximately 18 inches square), the platform can be set at any of four different heights (around 11” to about 19” off the ground), and a railing runs around the perimeter at your toddler’s waist height. This makes it a very safe place for your toddler to participate in highly engaging activities without either of you worrying about him falling down.

While we were down in Washington for the wedding we picked up a “Learning Tower” for Nile. It’s an amazing toy / device that allows the child to be at counter-level with you while you’re cooking or doing dishes. He is completely in love with it & calls it “my house”. Every time he sees me heading to the kitchen he rushes up into it & says “Mamma! Nile help cooooking!”.

The Learning Tower

The Learning Tower

from Amy's Blog | February 10, 2007

We found the coolest toddler product ever invented! It’s called The Learning Tower. Anna so badly wants to be involved with what’s going on in the kitchen, or at least see what’s going on up on the counter. She started climbing the tall chairs at the counter, and we were beginning to worry that she might fall and hurt herself. At a play date at a friend’s house, we discovered The Learning Tower. It’s awesome! Anna can climb in and out of it herself. There’s a sturdy platform for her to stand on, and it fits right up next to the counter. Two toddlers can easily fit in it together, and it will be something that can be used up to about age 5 at least. Now she can play with water in the sink, help make cookies, or just watch while I make dinner. She’s so much happier, and I get so much more done in the kitchen - in peace even!!!
